J. Jay Peay

Jay is a director of Savant Tax & Consulting in our Clinton, SC office. He has a membership interest in Savant.

Jay’s primary focus is in business advisory services, chief financial officer services, estate, trust and tax planning, and tax preparation services for individuals and businesses. He has extensive accounting, business consulting, and tax experience in the areas of construction, automobile dealerships, agriculture-related businesses, professional service groups, and owner-operated businesses.

Jay is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and was awarded the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In addition, he is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Jay has been involved in the financial services industry since 1984. He spent 28 years with a large local accounting firm where he was an owner for more than 23 years. While there, he led the effort to establish and manage the Clinton, SC office where he practiced for over 30 years until it joined with Savant Tax & Consulting in 2023. He owned SwaimBrown Wealth Management, LLC, until it joined with Savant Wealth Management, also in 2023.

Jay is a member of the AICPA. He serves on the board of AgSouth Farm Credit, ACA, and is an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where he serves on the Finance Committee, the Endowment and Planned Giving Committee, and Church Trustees. He is a founding board member of the Laurens County Cancer Association and serves as its finance chair.

Jay earned a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. He is a loyal Wofford fan and tries to attend most home football and basketball games. Jay has run two marathons, but he is older and wiser now and won’t do that again. He and his wife Donna have a son who is also a CPA.
