John is a managing partner and financial advisor in Savant’s Manassas, VA office. He has a membership interest in Savant.

John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has obtained the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, John is knowledgeable in all areas of financial planning, including wealth transfer and philanthropy, proactive income and estate tax planning, retirement cash flow projections, retirement income optimization, insurance needs analyses, debt management, and education funding.

John has been involved in the financial services industry since 1985 when he started as assistant controller of The Rushmore Group, a mutual fund company, and later managed its broker-dealer. In 1992 he became vice president of Voss & Co., an independent broker-dealer, and in 1995 he founded Alliant Wealth Advisors, where he served as president until it joined with Savant in 2022.

Strongly committed to community service, John founded the Prince William Financial Institute to provide networking and education opportunities for financial professionals in Prince William, VA. He is the treasurer for Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Children’s Intervention Services (CIS) and serves on the volunteer advisory board of the Prince William County Length of Service Award Program (LoSAP) as its sole citizen member. The program is for the benefit of certified volunteer fire department and volunteer emergency medical services personnel who are members of the participating volunteer companies in Prince William County. John served on the three-county Battlefield Advisory Board for Branch Bank & Trust Co. (BB&T) for 15 years and was a four-year member of the Finance Committee for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.

Due to John’s special concern for the families who lost loved ones in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he has continuously served as a docent at the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington since the program’s inception in 2009.

John earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems from Geneva College in western Pennsylvania.

Away from work, John enjoys competitive ultra-running (running distances of 50 km or more) and boating and is an avid fan of D.C.’s professional sports teams. He lives with his family in Manassas, VA, on the Occoquan River.
