Margaret M. Baer

Margaret “Maggie” Baer is the chief compliance officer and director of operations, based in Savant’s Lincolnshire, Illinois, office. She is responsible for firmwide governance, regulatory oversight, and operational infrastructure, working closely with advisors and leadership teams as the firm grows and evolves.

Maggie focuses on developing and maintaining compliance and operational frameworks that scale with the business, particularly in connection with mergers and acquisitions. Her work emphasizes consistency, risk management, and disciplined execution as the firm expands. She also oversees governance initiatives related to technology and artificial intelligence within financial services, with an emphasis on data governance, regulatory considerations, and responsible implementation.

She began her career in institutional asset management, where structure, long-term planning, and rigorous controls shaped her professional approach. After nearly two decades in the institutional space, she transitioned to wealth management, drawn to its increasing focus on comprehensive advice and firmwide coordination. Throughout her career, she has played a central role in guiding organizations through significant change, including major strategic integrations following the 2008 financial crisis. These experiences reinforced her belief in clear governance, disciplined processes, and transparent communication.

With more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, Maggie has held senior management roles across boutique asset management firms and registered investment companies. Prior to joining Savant, she served as chief administrative officer and chief compliance officer of Huber Financial Advisors until it joined Savant in 2020. She holds the Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional® (IACCP®) designation.

Maggie earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Illinois State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business.

She is an active member of Women Investment Professionals of Chicago and previously served on the board of Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
