Based in Savant’s Chicago Loop office, Chief People Officer Matthew “Matt” Lane drives strategic initiatives to optimize talent, elevate employee engagement, and strengthen organizational culture.

Matt specializes in aligning cultures with business strategy. He brings deep experience from leadership roles in management consulting, private equity, and middle-market portfolio companies. Before joining Savant, he provided interim HR leadership to portfolio companies in the wealth management and SaaS sectors, guiding them through reorganizations, leadership transitions, and M&A integrations. He also served as the first Chief People Officer for Sales Benchmark Index (SBI), a private equity-backed Go-to-Market advisory firm.

His career includes executive roles in global consulting and advisory firms, where he led recruiting, performance management, acquisition integration, and leadership development programs. He also co-founded two human capital consultancies focused on culture transformation and scaling early-stage tech companies.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan. He has served on several advisory and nonprofit boards, contributing his expertise to education, health care, and technology initiatives.

Outside of work, Matt is a frequent traveler and sports enthusiast. He’s a lifelong baseball fan and coach. He is very passionate about University of Michigan sports, particularly football and basketball. He and his wife have two college-age sons, one who is a pitcher at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and the other who attends Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Matt is also an avid pickleball player and occasional golfer.
