Overview
Scooter Thomas serves as a financial advisor in Savant’s Birmingham, Alabama, office, where he helps individuals, families, and business owners navigate complex financial planning and wealth management decisions.
Scooter brings a combination of financial planning knowledge and military leadership in his role at Savant. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Chartered Special Needs Consultant® (ChSNC®), and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), he works with clients on a wide range of planning needs, including retirement income strategies, cash flow planning, estate and tax planning, wealth transfer, philanthropy, insurance analyses, debt management, and education funding.
Before joining Savant, Scooter served as an associate advisor with Bridgeworth, which joined Savant in 2023. His professional background also includes service as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, a role that continues to shape his disciplined and client-focused approach to financial planning.
Scooter remains active in the Marine Corps Reserve, where he serves as a regional air defense policy planner on the Aviation Expeditionary Enabling team at the Pentagon. During his military career, he earned the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. In 2021, the Birmingham Business Journal recognized him as a Veteran of Influence, honoring military veterans who have gone on to achieve success in Birmingham’s business community1.
His commitment to service extends throughout the Birmingham area. Scooter is a member of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, serves on the Alabama Veterans Memorial Park Board, leads the Birmingham chapter of the Hampden-Sydney Alumni Club as president, and was a former board finance chair for the Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations.
Scooter earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies (Islam) from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
He and his wife, Megan, live in Mountain Brook, Alabama, with their daughter, Evie, son, Franklin, and two dogs, Lettie and Macy.

Honorees are selected by an advisory committee that considers the honorees’ contributions to their company, a track record of innovation and leadership, and their role in the Birmingham community. The Veterans of Influence list recognizes military veterans who served their country before going on to have successful careers in Birmingham’s business world. Savant did not pay a fee to be considered for this award.
