Five Ways to Protect Yourself Online This Holiday Season – Online shopping can be convenient, but it also comes with risks. Following these simple tips can help you reduce your chances of becoming a victim of online fraud.

1 – If it’s too good to be true, it probably is!

Be wary of deals and discounts from online stores you don’t know.

2 – Only shop with merchants you know and trust.

Know the URLs of your favorite shopping sites. If you see an ad that appears to be from one of your favorites, verify that the web address is the same.

3 – Never give out your password, financial information, or personal information.

Scammers can use these to impersonate you and commit crimes.

4 – Watch out for fake e-cards or purchase tracking information.

Don’t click any links until you have verified the sender is legitimate.

5 – Use your credit card, not your debit card.

Credit cards often include protections that debit cards don’t. Learn how your credit or debit card companies handle fraud.
