Overview
Michael “Mike” Cyrs is senior director of wealth transfer, focusing on estate and business succession planning, and works out of our Rockford, Illinois, headquarters. He partners closely with legal, tax, and trust professionals to help clients align their long-term goals with thoughtful, integrated planning.
Mike has more than 30 years of experience as a private attorney advising individuals, families, and business owners on complex estate planning strategies, estate tax mitigation, charitable planning, trust structures, and estate administration.
Mike maintains active memberships in the American Bar Association and the Florida, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Winnebago County bar associations. He also belongs to the Estate Section and the Business and Tax Section of the Winnebago County Bar Association. He previously served multiple terms on the Trusts and Estates Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association, where he contributed to efforts to improve Illinois probate, trust, and estate-related legislation.
His community involvement includes long-standing service to the Catholic Diocese of Rockford, including multiple terms on the Bishop’s Finance Council and participation on diocesan finance and audit committees. In recognition of that service, the Holy See awarded him the Order of St. Gregory in 2008. In 2015, the Rockford Chamber later named him one of its “20 People You Should Know.”1
A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. He holds a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Mike enjoys coaching his children in their activities and spending time outdoors with his family in northern Wisconsin.
