Brendan Smith serves as a financial advisor in our Guilford, Connecticut, office, where he focuses on personal financial planning, tax and estate planning, and investment management for individuals and families. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Brendan provides guidance designed to align with each client’s long-term financial goals, from retirement readiness to efficient cash flow strategies.

Brendan has more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. He began working at Savant in 2026 after Exencial Wealth Advisors joined the firm. Before the merger, he founded Shoreline Financial Advisors in 1996, building a practice centered on client-first financial planning. He began his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen and later expanded his work to include estate and wealth planning in Boston and New Haven, Connecticut.

He works closely with clients to integrate tax planning with investment management, helping them manage risk, reduce tax exposure, and plan for retirement and legacy objectives. His fiduciary approach supports transparent, tailored strategies across evolving market conditions.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boston College and a Master of Science (MS) in taxation and estate planning from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Brendan and his wife, Susan, live in Branford, Connecticut, and have two adult children, Sam and Emma. He spends his time outdoors, traveling, boating, and fishing on Long Island Sound, and he has summited all 48 of New Hampshire’s highest peaks.
