Embedded in Your Team, Not Running a Separate Playbook

Tax advice often can arrive in isolation. A strategist recommends a move that makes sense on its own, and the family can absorb the consequences everywhere else: in the estate plan, in the trust’s distributable income, in a gift tax return no one thought to model.

Our tax services are designed to take a whole-structure view instead. Savant looks at your individual, trust, and entity positions together, because that is how they behave. Our tax strategists work alongside your Savant planning, investment, and estate teams, and they coordinate with the attorneys, trustees, and outside accountants your family already works with. The goal is one plan, not several that happen to share a client.

We also measure success over a longer time horizon. A strategy that lowers this year’s tax bill and raises your family’s lifetime cost is not a strategy. We plan for efficiency across decades and generations, and we favor ideas your family can put into practice over ideas that only work in a model.

When the next generation is ready, we bring them into the conversation. Families who understand why a structure exists tend to help keep it working.

Savant is a fee-only fiduciary serving ultra-affluent families.

Frequently Asked Questions About Savant’s Tax Services for Ultra-Affluent Families

Do we have to leave our current CPA?

No. Some families may choose to move their tax services to Savant. Others may keep a longstanding accountant in place and bring us in for strategy, projections, and coordination. Both arrangements work. We will tell you honestly which one fits your situation after we see how your returns and entities are structured.

What returns does your team prepare?

Individual, trust, estate, partnership, S corporation, and private foundation returns, along with gift tax returns and multistate filings. Our tax-services team can help handle the full picture rather than a piece of it, because entity returns and personal returns rarely make sense in isolation.

How is this different from what our accountant already does?

Many tax relationships center on filing, which looks backward. Our strategists spend most of the year looking forward: modeling decisions before you make them, helping project the following year, and flagging opportunities while you can still act.

How often will we hear from you?

Throughout the year, not just in the spring. We deliver an annual projection and recalibration, and we reach out ahead of events we can see coming, such as a distribution, an exercise window, or a charitable deadline. We would also rather hear from you before a decision than after, and we can help make that easy.

How do you work with our attorney, trustee, and other advisors?

Directly and often. Many families come to us with capable advisors already in place, and our job is to make that group function as one team rather than several. We share our analysis, participate in joint conversations, and make sure the tax consequences of a legal or trust decision surface before anyone signs.

How do you involve the next generation?

At your pace and at your invitation. When a family is ready, we bring rising adults into the conversations that affect them, starting with the practical: how to read a K-1, what a trust distribution actually means, why a structure was built the way it was. Heirs who understand the reasoning tend to keep the plan intact. Families who prefer to wait can wait, and we will revisit it when the time is right.

Can you help with charitable giving and philanthropic tax strategies?

Yes. We help your family choose between a donor-advised fund, a private foundation, and structures like a charitable remainder or charitable lead trust, and we model the tax effect of each against your broader plan, not just the deduction in isolation.
