David Bregger is a financial advisor focused on retirement planning and tax-efficient wealth strategies, working out of our Austin, Texas, office. David began working at Savant in 2026 when Exencial Wealth Advisors joined the firm, expanding the breadth of planning resources available to his clients.
With more than four decades in the financial planning industry, David brings a deeply personal approach shaped by his upbringing on a working farm and an early fascination with numbers, compound interest, and long-term planning. He began his career in 1984 with the retirement planning division of Travelers Insurance Company, where he worked closely with university professors on wealth accumulation strategies. Seeking a broader, more integrated planning role, he earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional designation in 1993 and launched his own practice, Bregger & Associates, in 1995.
David focuses on retirement planning for individuals and families who want to optimize their tax situation, manage cash flow, and make informed decisions during major life transitions. He also works closely with clients experiencing sudden wealth from business sales or inheritances and those planning meaningful gifts to children or charitable organizations. In 2021, he aligned his boutique firm with Weinheimer Wealth and Exencial to provide a more comprehensive team-based approach that included advanced tax and estate planning.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, where coursework in individual taxation and investments shaped his professional direction.
David maintains a strong commitment to community and faith-based organizations. He serves on the Investment Committee for the Catholic Diocese of Austin and previously held leadership roles with Austin Sunshine Camps and St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, including chair of hospitality and service on the parish and finance councils. He is also a member of Legatus, an international organization of Christian business leaders.
Married nearly 40 years to Nelda, David is the father of three adult children, and a doting grandfather. He enjoys golfing, reading the Gospels, investing, following the Chicago Cubs, traveling throughout the United States, and participating in Christian overseas pilgrimages. In addition to his Austin community, he enjoys working from his South Padre Island, Texas, location.
