Derek Carter serves as director of due diligence, onboarding and integration, working out of our Rockford, Illinois, office. A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, he focuses on guiding firms through the onboarding and integration process as they partner with Savant, helping to ensure a smooth transition that supports long-term collaboration.

Derek has nearly three decades of experience in the financial services industry, with roles spanning due diligence, operations, and firm integration. He joined Savant in 2003 and has played a key role in integrating almost every firm that has partnered with the organization, contributing to consistent processes and strong internal alignment.

His work centers on evaluating prospective partner firms and leading integration efforts once partnerships are established. Derek collaborates closely with internal teams and incoming firms to align systems, workflows, and culture, with an emphasis on continuity for clients and advisors.

Derek earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Edgewood University, also in Madison.

He lives in Milton, Wisconsin, with his wife and their two sons. Derek remains active in Scouting alongside his youngest son and enjoys cooking and jogging in his free time.
