Overview
Justin Smith is a financial advisor focused on proactive, tax-efficient planning in our office in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he works closely with high-net-worth individuals and families to help protect wealth and seek to reduce long-term tax exposure. Justin designs strategies that address complex financial situations, including stock-based compensation planning, capital gains mitigation tied to concentrated stock, business and real estate transactions, and tax-efficient retirement and income replacement planning. He also helps clients structure plans that support multigenerational wealth transfer, charitable giving, and legacy goals while seeking to maximize available tax benefits.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®), and Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®), Justin brings a broad perspective to financial planning. His work spans proactive income and estate tax planning, retirement cash flow planning, retirement income optimization, insurance analysis, debt management, education funding strategies, and charitable planning.
Justin has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining Savant, he served as a partner and portfolio manager at an independent registered investment advisory firm in Chicago, where he worked with clients on portfolio construction and long-term wealth strategies.
A frequent speaker on tax-smart retirement planning, Justin regularly shares insights on navigating complex tax considerations during and after a career transition. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
Justin enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors with his wife and three children, and taking advantage of everything Arizona has to offer. He is an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Michigan Wolverines.
