Edward “Ed” Jastrem serves as a senior planning specialist in Savant’s Westwood, Massachusetts, office, where he focuses on leading advanced financial planning initiatives. Ed’s career is based on the influence of his parents’ professional paths, with his father excelling in accounting and client relationships and his mother thriving in coaching and helping others. That foundation shaped his passion for guiding families through complex financial decisions.
Ed earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, along with double minors in business and psychology. He also obtained a Master of Science (MS) in personal financial planning from the College for Financial Planning. He began his post-college career at custodian banks, managing accounting and operations for mutual funds and hedge funds.
His interest in working directly with clients motivated him to join Heritage Financial in 2007, where he became chief planning officer. In this role, he built and led a high-performing planning team that helped provide strategic advice to help guide clients toward long-term financial well-being. He started working at Savant when Heritage joined the firm in 2026.
To support his work with clients and mentor colleagues, Ed regularly studies changes to tax laws and industry developments and maintains multiple active professional designations. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification and is a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Certified Mutual Fund Specialist (CMFS), Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC), Chartered Retirement Plan Counselor® (CRPC®), and Accredited Wealth Management Advisor® (AWMA®), reflecting his ongoing commitment to expanding his knowledge and skill set.
Ed volunteers with the CFP Board, contributing to the writing and editing of exam questions. His insights have appeared in national outlets including CNBC, MarketWatch, InvestmentNews, Financial Planning magazine, and SmartAsset.
Ed lives in Westwood with his wife, Sara, and their son, Teddy. He enjoys collecting stamps, coins, and historic stock and bond certificates.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Center for Financial Planning, Inc. owns and licenses the certification marks CFP® in the United States to Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which authorizes individuals who successfully complete the organization's initial and ongoing certification requirements to use the certification marks.
